Live music fills the al fresco space at 40th and Walnut Streets for the annual 40th Street Summer Series.
Once a month every month this summer, talented musicians and performers perform an array of acts for attendees at the series of free outdoor concerts.
On July 23rd, Dendê & Band take to the stage with a fusion of Afro-Brazilian traditions like samba de roda and candomble melded with world rhythms like rumba, afrobeat and mbalax. Set to open the show, PaPa Ed Stokes and Kunu Bi will deliver a mix of African-inspired and blues-based beats.
The 40th Street Summer Series will also feature juggling, face painting and fire dancing, along with free samples from Ben & Jerry’s and Honeygrow.
All concerts take place on the green behind the Walnut Street Free Library at 40th and Walnut streets and begin at 6 p.m., with other activities kicking off at 5 p.m. Admission is free.
