Coming to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 19th, DRUMLine live is making its way to Kimmel Center! DRUMLine Live, the show stopping attraction created by the musical team behind the hit movies, “Drumline” and “Drumline: A New Beat,” embodies the soulful, high stepping style of the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) marching band experience.
With its riveting rhythms, bold beats, and ear grabbing energy, DRUMLine Live is a high octane musical roller coaster ride that is guaranteed to touch every emotion in your body. The stage show is a synchronized musical showcase of the HBCU experience. Incorporating original compositions and soul infused interpretations of top 40 hits, group performances range from colorful, choreographed routines to heavy doses of drum riffs and cadences.
Don P. Roberts, musical director, was inspired by the hit 2002 movie “Drumline” starring Nick Cannon and Orlando Jones. Roberts adapted the band’s original outdoor show to thrill audiences with a new version, to be performed live on stage. “DRUMLine Live” presents the sounds of the great brass past, including Earth, Wind and Fire and Tower of Power side – by -side with the hottest contemporary hiphop and R&B.
The “DRUMLine Live” cast, assembled from Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country, is comprised of approximately 40 members who storm the stage for performances ranging from colorful, choreographed routines. Roberts credits the 2002 movie for brining excitement and relevancy to a wide demographic but promises the stage version of “DRUMLine Live” will be even more emotional and intense. DRUMLine Live” opened to rave reviews in January 2009 and is currently on tour in North America.
